TestBench 4.0 at the Software Quality Days 2026
From 19 to 21 May, the International Software Quality Days 2026 took place in Vienna. Once again, this renowned conference brought together experts in software quality, test management, and test automation. The TestBench team was there as well – and, of course, so was the latest TestBench 4.0 version
As in previous years, Artificial Intelligence was one of the key topics throughout the event. This made it the perfect opportunity for us to showcase a number of new features for TestBench 4.0, which support modern testing processes even more efficiently and intuitively.
TestBench 4.0 as the Center of Attention
Visitors stopping by the TestBench booth quickly realized that version 4.0 marks the beginning of a new chapter for TestBench. Many of the new features attracted significant interest and sparked engaging discussions with attendees from a wide range of industries.
A particular focus was placed on the integration of Robot Framework into TestBench and the associated VS Code integration. In particular, the bidirectional data exchange and low-code/no-code approach demonstrated how business-oriented test design and test automation can be brought closer together.
The integrated AI capabilities also generated considerable interest. Whether supporting the creation of test case descriptions, assisting with reviews, or helping to interpret error messages, many visitors immediately recognized the potential these features offer for their day-to-day testing activities.
Another highlight was the new web-based iTORX. Its platform-independent test execution directly in the browser perfectly aligns with the requirements of modern and flexible working environments.

From the Stage directly into the Discussion
One of the conference highlights for TestBench was Dierk Engelhardt’s presentation, “From Specification to Automation – Bridging the Gap between Testers and Developers, Spiced with a Touch of AI.” Using a practical example, the presentation demonstrated how the existing gap between business-oriented test design and technical test automation can be significantly reduced through Keyword Driven Testing and the integration of Robot Framework. The key advantage is that business testers and automation specialists can continue working in their respective “languages,” while the translation between both worlds becomes largely automated.
In addition, AI was presented as a supporting assistant — not as a replacement for human expertise, but as an intelligent aid within the testing process. Transparency and traceability remained key principles throughout the presentation.

Personal Exchange as a Key to Success
Beyond presentations, demos, and product innovations, the event once again demonstrated the true value of conferences such as Software Quality Days: personal interaction.
The TestBench team was represented by five experienced colleagues who engaged in numerous in-depth discussions — not only about TestBench itself but also about topics such as nearshore and offshore collaboration. A particularly valuable contribution came from our Branch Manager, Dafina Galani from imbus Peja, whose experience and perspective enriched many of these conversations.
Another highlight was our moderated Expert Talk, “The Role of the Tester in the Age of AI – Obsolete Model or Opportunity?” Together with participants, we discussed opportunities, challenges, and future developments in software testing. The event was complemented by the Business Speed Dating sessions, which enabled many new contacts and inspiring conversations.
Conclusion
The International Software Quality Days 2026 once again demonstrated how essential integration, collaboration, and the targeted use of new technologies are for modern test management.
This is exactly where TestBench 4.0 comes in: bringing together business-oriented test design and test automation, supporting teams with intelligent AI assistance, and providing the foundation for efficient, transparent, and future-proof testing processes.
For the TestBench team, the three days in Vienna were a valuable opportunity to gain new insights, exchange experiences, and collaborate with the community in shaping the future of software quality.
